Shockwave Therapy
Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) therapy—often referred to as radial shockwave— uses compressed air to drive a projectile against an applicator probe which is held against the skin. This generates high-energy sound waves that spread outward into the body.
Main effects:
Reduce pain (reduces substance P)
Stimulates and speeds up the body’s own natural healing process
Increase blood flow, increased oxygen and nutrient flow
Stimulation of collagen production healing and making tissue stronger
Break up scar tissue
Common conditions treated:
Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis, heel pain
Tendon injury and pain e.g. Achilles and more
Ligament injuries e.g. ankle sprain
Muscular injuries e.g. hamstring, calf and more
